The DT Lincoln recycling program, with the help of Eastern Illinois University, continues to provide a steady work training program for the consumers that we serve. The program has been recycling cardboard and paper products, such as newspapers, office paper, magazines, books, calendars, brochures, etc. for over 10 years. The program also collects aluminum and plastics to be processed at a different location. We have a large paper shredder on-site that is used to shred confidential documents from agencies, other businesses, personal documents, and junk mail.

During Fiscal Year 2011, the DT Lincoln program processed over 1 million pounds of materials. This provided revenue of over $87,000 which went toward consumer wages.

We are off to a good start to recycle even more material this Fiscal year. In the month of August alone, we recycled over 100,000 pounds of SOP (sorted office pack), newspaper, and cardboard. The material to be recycled comes from a variety of sources. It’s not unusual to see our consumers and staff in the CCAR bus picking up material from businesses in Mattoon and Charleston on Monday through Friday. We also have local community members and businesses bringing material to us at our building. We are open for donations of material on Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 2:00pm. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a time for us to pick up your recyclable materials, please call (217) 348-0127 ext. 709 or (217) 348-0127 ext. 707. You can also email us here.
